How to use Text to speech
Text to speech reads typed or pasted text aloud using your browser's built-in speech synthesis. You can set a speech rate from 0.1 to 3, pitch from 0 to 2 and a BCP 47 voice language such as en-US. The tool picks an installed voice matching that language when one exists, and Cancel stops playback at any time.
- Paste the source into the input editor, or load the built-in example.
- Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.
- Run text to speech, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.
What this tool supports
Choose a voice language, rate and pitch. Playback stays active until the browser reports completion; use Cancel to stop. Missing voices, startup failures and playback errors produce a clear error. Browser speech synthesis does not provide a downloadable audio file.

Frequently asked questions
Can I download the text to speech audio as an MP3?
No. Browser speech synthesis plays audio directly and does not produce a file, so there is nothing to download. For a WAV file, an offline neural voice tool that generates audio locally is a separate option.
How do I change the voice language for read aloud?
Enter a BCP 47 language tag such as en-GB, fr-FR or es-ES. The tool looks for an installed voice with exactly that language. Invalid tags produce an error asking for a valid tag like en-US or fr-FR.
Why does text to speech not start in my browser?
If speech has not begun within 15 seconds, the tool reports that the speech service did not start and suggests checking installed voices. Browsers without speech synthesis show an unavailable message. Each session is limited to 8,000 characters and ten minutes.
Where is my input processed?
Your browser may use a remote speech provider. Its own permission and privacy settings apply.
What are the input limits?
Read up to 8,000 characters per session. Speech rate is 0.1–3 and pitch is 0–2. Startup times out after 15 seconds; sessions are bounded to ten minutes.
