How to use MP3 to WAV

MP3 to WAV decodes an MP3 file into an uncompressed WAV file using 16-bit PCM audio. There are no settings to adjust: the tool decodes the audio, drops any embedded cover image or video stream, and writes audio.wav. Expect the WAV to be several times larger than the MP3, and the output is capped at 50 MB.

  1. Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
  2. Check the source format before running the operation.
  3. Run mp3 to wav, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Limits and processing

Media input is bounded to 50 MB per file and 100 MB combined. WebAssembly conversions have a 180-second limit and may require substantial browser memory.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting MP3 to WAV improve audio quality?

No. The WAV holds the already-decoded MP3 audio as 16-bit PCM, so detail removed by MP3 compression is not restored. WAV is useful when an editor or device requires uncompressed input.

Why is my WAV file so much bigger than the MP3?

WAV stores uncompressed PCM samples, while MP3 is compressed. A long MP3 can therefore exceed the 50 MB output limit; in that case the tool reports that output reached the limit and asks you to reduce the duration.

What bit depth is the WAV file from MP3?

The tool encodes WAV audio with the pcm_s16le codec, which is 16-bit signed little-endian PCM, a format most audio editors and players accept.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Media input is bounded to 50 MB per file and 100 MB combined. WebAssembly conversions have a 180-second limit and may require substantial browser memory.
