How to use Form label checker

The form label checker parses pasted HTML and lists each input, select and textarea with the accessible name it found, flagging any missing programmatic label. It looks for aria-labelledby, aria-label, a label with a matching for attribute, a wrapping label, and the value of submit, reset or button inputs. Hidden inputs are skipped and placeholders do not count.

  1. Paste the source into the input editor, or load the built-in example.
  2. Check the source format before running the operation.
  3. Run form label checker, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Limits and processing

Images use the existing 32-megapixel canvas bound. Up to 100 source images are allowed where supported. Pasted HTML is bounded to 200,000 characters; Mermaid diagrams to 20,000 characters and 300 lines. SVG and PNG generation require a browser.

Frequently asked questions

Does placeholder text count as a form label?

No. A field with only a placeholder is reported as Missing programmatic label. Add a label element linked with for and id, wrap the field in a label, or use aria-labelledby or aria-label instead.

Which label is reported if a field has several?

The checker uses a fixed order: aria-labelledby text first, then aria-label, then a label whose for attribute matches the field's id, then a wrapping label, then the value of submit, reset or button inputs. The first one found is shown.

Does a passing result mean my form is accessible?

No. This is a static approximation of accessible naming in pasted markup, and scripts, CSS and rendered behavior are not evaluated. Fields with a name are still marked for wording and association review, and conformance is not certified.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Images use the existing 32-megapixel canvas bound. Up to 100 source images are allowed where supported. Pasted HTML is bounded to 200,000 characters; Mermaid diagrams to 20,000 characters and 300 lines. SVG and PNG generation require a browser.
