The CSV column splitter breaks one column of a CSV or XLSX file into several new columns, either at a delimiter or at fixed character widths. The original column is kept and new columns are named after it with .1, .2 and so on appended. The default delimiter is a space, and results download as result.csv.
- Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
- Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.

How do I split a full name column into first and last name?
Enter the column header, such as name, and keep the default space delimiter. A value like Alex Example becomes name.1 Alex and name.2 Example. Names with extra words create additional columns.
How does splitting by fixed widths work?
Enter comma-separated widths, such as 3,2. The first 3 characters go to one column, the next 2 to another, and any remaining text goes to a final column. Up to 50 positive whole-number widths are allowed.
What if rows split into different numbers of parts?
The tool creates as many columns as the longest split needs and leaves the extra cells blank for shorter rows. A split producing more than 100 columns is refused.
