Tool ID: subtitle-timing-shifter. Requested language: su. Description language: en. Complete guide translation: no; untranslated sections use English.

## Overview (en)

The subtitle timing shifter moves every cue in an SRT or WebVTT file earlier or later by an offset in seconds, and can rescale timings with a multiplier to correct gradual drift. Output is SRT or VTT, with cue text preserved and SRT cues renumbered. Shifted times must stay between 0 and 100 hours, and malformed cues are rejected.

## Supported tasks (en)

Shift or rescale cue times within valid timestamp bounds. Edit timing rather than only convert subtitle formats.

## Steps (en)

1. Paste the source into the input editor, or load the built-in example.
2. Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.
3. Run subtitle timing shifter, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

## Settings

- Offset seconds (en; key: offset; type: number); minimum: -36000; maximum: 36000
- Timing scale (en; key: scale; type: number); minimum: 0.01; maximum: 100
- Output format (en; key: format; type: select): SRT [en], VTT [en]

## Limitations (en)

Up to 20 media files, 50 MB each and 100 MB combined; 50 MB output and a 180-second conversion timeout. Subtitle input accepts at most 5,000 blocks. Required codecs and browser memory affect support.

## Example input

```text
1
00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:03,000
Hello, world.
2
00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:06,000
A little easier.
```

## Privacy and connections (en)

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

## Questions (en)

### How do I make subtitles appear earlier?

Enter a negative offset, such as -2.5 to move every cue two and a half seconds earlier. Positive values delay them. If a shift would push a cue before zero, the tool stops with an error instead of clipping it.

### How does the timing scale setting work?

Every start and end time is multiplied by the scale before the offset is added. A value above 1 stretches the timeline and a value below 1 compresses it, which helps when subtitles drift steadily out of sync.

### Can I convert SRT to VTT while shifting subtitles?

Yes. Choose VTT as the output format to get a WEBVTT header and dot-separated milliseconds. Cue text is kept, but VTT STYLE blocks and positioning settings are dropped. Malformed cues must be fixed first, for example with the subtitle validator.
