### What is the formula to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply the Celsius reading by 9/5 and add 32, so 20 °C becomes 68 °F. For the reverse, subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit reading and multiply by 5/9. The converter shows the formula it used next to every result.

### Can I convert a temperature difference instead of a reading?

Not directly. The tool converts readings, which include the 32-degree offset between scales. For a change in temperature, a change of 1 °C equals a change of 1.8 °F or 1 K, so multiply a Celsius difference by 1.8 yourself.

### Why does the converter reject negative Kelvin values?

Kelvin starts at absolute zero, so anything below 0 K, -273.15 °C or -459.67 °F is physically impossible. The tool converts every input to Kelvin first and returns an error if the result is below zero instead of producing a meaningless number.
