### How do I find the original number before a percentage was taken?

Choose Reverse percentage. If the value is a known percentage of an unknown whole, the calculator returns value × 100 / percentage. For example, 30 entered as 15% of a whole gives an original value of 200. A percentage of zero returns an error.

### What is the difference between percentage change and percentage difference?

Percentage change divides the difference by the absolute original value: (new − original) / |original| × 100. Percentage difference is symmetric and divides the absolute difference by the average of both absolute values. The calculator offers both as separate operations and labels the denominator it used.

### How do I calculate what percent one number is of another?

Select Value is what percent, enter the whole in the Percentage field and the part in the Value field. The result is value / whole × 100, so 50 of 200 is 25%. A whole of zero is rejected because the percentage would be undefined.
