### How is BPM calculated from taps?

The time between consecutive taps is measured in milliseconds. Intervals outside half to one and a half times the median are discarded, the rest are averaged, and BPM is 60,000 divided by that average. Steady taps every 500 milliseconds give 120 BPM.

### How many taps do I need for an accurate BPM?

Two taps give a first estimate, but more taps make it steadier because occasional early or late taps are filtered out. The calculator keeps the latest 100 taps, so you can tap through several bars and watch the value settle.

### How do I start a new tempo measurement?

Press Reset to clear all taps, or wait more than five seconds before tapping again. A gap over five seconds automatically discards the old sequence and starts counting from the new tap.
