Strikethrough Text draws a line through your text by placing the Unicode combining long stroke overlay, U+0336, after every character. The result is plain text, so the strike survives pasting into places without formatting. ### How does Unicode strikethrough text work?

Each visible character is followed by the combining character U+0336, which draws a horizontal stroke over the character before it. Because the stroke is part of the text rather than formatting, copying and pasting keeps the line.

### Why does the strikethrough line look broken or uneven?
