The calculator shows it as rwxr-xr-x. Similarly, 644 becomes rw-r--r--. ### How do I convert rwxr-xr-x to octal? Enter the nine characters exactly, using - for missing permissions. Each triplet becomes one digit, with r = 4, w = 2 and x = 1, so rwxr-xr-x converts to 755. Leave out the leading file-type character such as d. ### How are setuid, setgid and sticky bits shown? A fourth leading octal digit sets them: 4 for setuid, 2 for setgid and 1 for sticky. 4755 shows as rwsr-xr-x.
