## Overview (en)

Number to Words writes a whole number out in English words, so 123456 becomes one hundred twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty-six. It handles values from -999,999,999,999 to 999,999,999,999 and adds minus for negatives. Choose US English, or British English, which inserts and after the hundreds, as in one hundred and one.

## Questions (en)

### Can I convert decimals or cents to words?

No. Only whole numbers are accepted, and a value with a fractional part, such as 12.5, returns an error. Convert the whole and fractional amounts separately if you need both written out.

### Why does my number with commas show an error?

Enter digits without thousands separators, such as 1500000 rather than 1,500,000. The input accepts an optional sign and plain digits; commas, spaces and currency symbols are not recognized.

### What is the difference between the US and British number styles?

British English adds and between the hundreds and the rest of the number, giving one hundred and twenty-five. US English omits it: one hundred twenty-five. Both styles hyphenate compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine.
