### How do I convert DMS coordinates to decimal degrees?

Enter the latitude as degrees, minutes and seconds separated by spaces, followed by N or S, for example 40 26 46 N, and the longitude with E or W. The decimal values appear in the result.

### Should I type the degree symbol in the coordinate converter?

No. Separate degrees, minutes and seconds with spaces and add the hemisphere letter at the end. Minutes and seconds must each be below 60.

### How are south and west coordinates shown in decimal?

Coordinates in the southern or western hemisphere become negative decimal numbers. You can also enter a negative decimal directly, and the DMS output adds S or W.
