## Overview (en)

Receipt to spreadsheet runs OCR on a photo of a receipt and returns suggested fields as JSON in fields.json. It picks out a receipt number, the first numeric date, the line containing the total and a list of amounts with two decimals, with or without a dollar, euro or pound sign. All recognized text is kept for checking.

## Supported tasks (en)

Browser Tesseract OCR downloads language data on first run. Table columns are inferred from word spacing; invoice/receipt fields use patterns. Review every extracted value before use.

## Steps (en)

1. Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
2. Set ocr language, minimum ocr confidence.
3. Run receipt to spreadsheet, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

### What format does the receipt extractor output?

It produces JSON rather than a spreadsheet file, with kind, identifier, date, totalLine, amountCandidates, recognizedText and reviewRequired. You can copy the amounts into your own spreadsheet after checking them against the receipt.

### Does the receipt reader handle amounts with a comma as the decimal separator?

Yes. Amount candidates match two-decimal numbers written with either a dot or a comma, such as 4.50 or 4,50, optionally preceded by a dollar, euro or pound sign.

### How do I get better results from a crumpled receipt photo?

Photograph the receipt flat, in good light and filling the frame, and choose the matching OCR language code, such as eng or deu. If no text is recognized, the tool asks for a clearer image or another language.
