How to use Upside-down text

Upside-Down Text flips your text so it reads correctly when the screen is turned around, by reversing the character order and replacing each letter with a rotated look-alike such as ɐ, ǝ or ʎ. Exclamation and question marks become ¡ and ¿. Input is lowercased first, and digits and unsupported characters keep their normal form.

Frequently asked questions

Why does upside-down text turn capital letters into lowercase?

The mapping covers only the 26 lowercase Latin letters plus ! and ?, so the input is lowercased before flipping. Capitals therefore appear as their flipped lowercase equivalents.

Why are numbers not flipped upside down?

Digits are not part of the character map, so they move to their reversed position but keep their normal orientation. The same applies to accented letters, punctuation other than ! and ?, and non-Latin scripts.

How do I write a message that reads upside down?

Type the message normally and copy the output. The character order is reversed and each supported letter is swapped for a rotated equivalent, so the text reads correctly when the device is turned 180 degrees.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Text operations generally accept up to 2,000,000 characters. Individual parsers, generators and formulas apply additional limits shown by their controls.
