How to use GIF to MP4

GIF to MP4 converts an animated GIF into an H.264 MP4 video that plays in standard video players and social apps. The tool keeps the GIF's frame size, rounding width and height down to even numbers where H.264 requires it, uses the widely compatible yuv420p pixel format, and moves playback metadata to the start of the file for faster streaming.

  1. Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
  2. Check the source format before running the operation.
  3. Run gif to mp4, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the MP4 one pixel smaller than my GIF?

H.264 video with yuv420p color needs even dimensions. When a GIF has an odd width or height, the tool rounds that side down to the nearest even number, so a 301-pixel-wide GIF becomes a 300-pixel-wide MP4.

Does the MP4 from a GIF have sound?

No. GIF files contain no audio, so the MP4 holds only a video track. If you need sound, you would add it in a separate video editor after converting.

Will the converted MP4 play on phones and in browsers?

The output uses the H.264 codec with yuv420p pixels and fast-start metadata, a combination aimed at broad playback support. Check the result in your target app, since the tool's notice also recommends keeping the original and checking playback.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Media input is bounded to 50 MB per file and 100 MB combined. WebAssembly conversions have a 180-second limit and may require substantial browser memory.
