How to use Palette accessibility preview

Palette accessibility preview takes 1 to 12 six-digit HEX colors and checks every text and background combination, including each color against itself. It builds a table of WCAG contrast ratios with an AA normal text pass or fail at 4.5:1, a grid of sample swatches, and a JSON download of all pairs.

  1. Enter the requested values in the settings panel.
  2. Set palette hex colors.
  3. Run palette accessibility preview, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check the contrast of my whole color palette?

Enter your HEX colors separated by commas or spaces, for example #17243a, #ffffff, #ed854b. The tool compares every color as text on every color as background and lists the ratio for each pair.

Does palette preview check WCAG AAA or large text?

No. Each pair is marked only against the AA threshold for normal text, 4.5:1. The ratio is shown with two decimals, so you can compare it with 3:1 for large text or 7:1 for AAA yourself.

Why is my color rejected by the palette preview?

Only six-digit HEX codes with a leading # are accepted, such as #1a2b3c. Three-digit shorthand, color names, rgb() values and lists longer than 12 colors return an error.
