How to use Time unit converter

The Time unit converter changes a duration from one fixed unit to another: microseconds, milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days or weeks. It uses exact lengths such as 86,400 seconds per day and 604,800 seconds per week. Months and years are deliberately left out because their length varies, and precision can be set from 1 to 15 significant digits.

  1. Adjust the values; an initial result is calculated from the defaults.
  2. Change the basic settings or open Advanced mode to fine-tune the result.
  3. Review and copy or download your result. Pause Live results to run manually. Sources or individual settings above 20,000 characters require an explicit run.

Frequently asked questions

How many seconds are in a week?

A week is 604,800 seconds in this converter, which is 7 days of 86,400 seconds each. An hour is 3,600 seconds and a minute is 60 seconds.

Why can I not convert days to months or years?

Months range from 28 to 31 days and years from 365 to 366 days, so there is no single exact factor. The converter only offers fixed-length units. For calendar spans, use a date difference calculator that counts real dates.

How do I convert milliseconds to minutes?

Choose millisecond as the From unit and minute as the To unit. A millisecond is 0.001 seconds and a minute is 60 seconds, so 90,000 milliseconds converts to 1.5 minutes.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Use finite numbers, valid dates and the ranges shown by each control. Invalid values produce an error without a downloadable result.
