How to use Archive contents comparer

The Archive contents comparer takes exactly two ZIP archives and lists every file path found in either, marked as identical, changed, only left or only right. It decompresses each entry and compares SHA-256 hashes of the contents, so a file counts as changed whenever its bytes differ. Folder entries are skipped, and each entry checksum is validated while reading.

  1. Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
  2. Check the source format before running the operation.
  3. Run archive contents comparer, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

What this tool supports

Compare archive entry paths and content hashes.

Limits and processing

Up to 200 files, 20 MB each and 100 MB combined. PDFs are limited to 500 pages, contact sheets to 100 pages, and bookmark trees to 1,000 entries and 20 nesting levels. Individual operations apply smaller output limits.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare two ZIP files?

Upload exactly two ZIP archives. The first is treated as left and the second as right. The result table lists each path with one of four states: identical, changed, only left or only right.

Does the comparer check file contents or just names and dates?

It checks contents. Each entry is decompressed and hashed with SHA-256, and files at the same path are compared by hash. A file with a new timestamp but identical bytes is still reported as identical.

Does it detect a file that was moved to a different folder?

Not as a move. Paths are compared exactly, so a moved file appears once as only left at its old path and once as only right at its new path, even if the contents match.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
