How to use View image metadata
View image metadata reads EXIF, TIFF, XMP, ICC and IPTC data from a photo and shows it as formatted JSON together with the file name, size and type. This can reveal camera details, capture dates or GPS location. The file is parsed on your device and the image itself is not modified.
- Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
- Check the source format before running the operation.
- Run view image metadata, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Limits and processing
Images are limited to 32 megapixels and 16,000 pixels per side. Most operations accept one source; supported batch operations produce a ZIP archive.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see if a photo has GPS location data?
Load the photo and look through the metadata JSON for GPS entries such as latitude and longitude. If none appear, the file did not include location data in a block the parser reads.
Can image metadata prove where or when a photo was taken?
No. Metadata can be edited or removed, and the tool notes that file properties are not proof of origin. Treat the dates, devices and locations it shows as claims recorded in the file.
Why does my image show empty metadata?
Many images carry no EXIF or XMP, for example screenshots or files that were already cleaned. In that case the metadata object is empty and only the file name, size and type appear.
Where is my input processed?
This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
What are the input limits?
