Clicks are scheduled ahead on the browser's audio clock for steady timing, and the display shows which beat of the bar is playing. Start and stop it with one button.

  2. Set beats per minute, beats per bar.
  3. Run metronome, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

How do I set a time signature on the metronome?

Set Beats per bar to the top number of the time signature, such as 3 for 3/4 or 6 for 6/8, up to 12. The first beat of every bar plays at 1000 Hz and the other beats at 700 Hz, so you can hear where each bar starts.

Why does the metronome drift or stutter in the background?

Browsers may throttle timers in background tabs, and audio devices add their own latency. Clicks are scheduled slightly ahead with the audio clock to reduce this, but keep the tab active for the most reliable playback.

Can I change the tempo while the metronome is playing?

The BPM and beats per bar fields are locked while it runs. Press Stop / mute, change the values and press Start again. The time between clicks is 60 / BPM seconds, so 120 BPM clicks every 0.5 seconds.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
