Create printable puzzles and answer sheets from supplied word lists.
How to use Word search generator
The Word search generator takes up to 50 words and builds a printable letter grid from 5×5 to 30×30 with the words hidden inside and an answer sheet on a separate page. Words run across and down, with optional diagonals and reversed directions. Empty cells are filled with random letters, and the answer key lists each word's start row, column and direction.

Frequently asked questions
What words can I use in a word search?
Each word goes on its own line and is converted to uppercase with spaces removed. Words must use only the Latin letters A to Z, be at least 2 letters long and be no longer than the grid size. Duplicate words are removed.
Why could a word not be placed in the grid?
Words are placed longest first, with up to 2,000 random attempts each, and they may share matching letters. If a word still does not fit, the generator stops with an error. Enlarge the grid, enable diagonals or reversed words, or shorten the list.
How do I read the answer key?
The answer page lists each word with its start row and start column, counted from 1 at the top left, and a direction as row and column steps. For example, 0,1 runs left to right, 1,0 runs downward and 1,1 runs diagonally down and to the right.
Where is my input processed?
This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
