Tile quantity calculator
Estimate pieces and boxes with cuts, gaps and waste allowance.
How to use Tile quantity calculator
The Tile quantity calculator estimates how many tiles and boxes you need for a floor area. It adds the grout gap to the tile width and height, divides the area by that footprint, adds a waste percentage and rounds up, then divides by tiles per box. Edge cuts and layout can raise the real count, so treat it as an area estimate.
- Enter the requested values in the settings panel.
- Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.
- Run tile quantity calculator, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Limits and processing
Local bounded calculations. Numeric inputs must be finite and within the visible ranges. Lists and tables have operation-specific limits. Models, estimates and supplied rates must be checked against your intended use.
Frequently asked questions
How many tiles do I need for 20 square meters?
With the defaults of 30 by 30 cm tiles, a 3 mm grout gap and 10 percent waste, 20 m² needs 240 tiles, or 20 boxes of 12. Change the tile size, gap or waste to match your project.
Does the tile calculator include the grout gap?
Yes. The grout gap in millimeters is added to both the tile width and height before calculating how many tiles fit in the area, so wider joints slightly reduce the tile count.
How much waste should I add for tiles?
The default is 10 percent. The calculator works from area only and does not model edge cuts, patterns or obstacles, which can increase the real number. Check with your tile supplier or installer for the layout you plan.
Where is my input processed?
This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
What are the input limits?
