How to use Cooking measurements
Cooking measurements converts kitchen volumes such as US teaspoons, tablespoons, cups and fluid ounces, metric teaspoons, tablespoons and cups, milliliters and liters. A US cup is 236.5882365 mL and a metric cup is 250 mL. It can also convert to or from grams and kilograms when you enter a measured ingredient density in g/mL.
- Adjust the values; an initial result is calculated from the defaults.
- Change the basic settings or open Advanced mode to fine-tune the result.
- Review and copy or download your result. Pause Live results to run manually. Sources or individual settings above 20,000 characters require an explicit run.
What this tool supports
Converts US and metric cooking volumes and mass. Volume-to-mass conversions require your measured ingredient density; there is no universal cups-to-grams factor.

Frequently asked questions
How many milliliters are in a US cup?
A US cup is 236.5882365 mL in this tool, a US tablespoon is 14.78676478125 mL and a US teaspoon is 4.92892159375 mL. Metric measures are rounder: 250 mL per cup, 15 mL per tablespoon and 5 mL per teaspoon.
How do I convert cups of flour to grams?
Pick US cup as the From unit and g as the To unit, then enter the ingredient density in g/mL. The tool multiplies the volume in milliliters by that density. It uses no built-in cups-to-grams factor, since packing and moisture change the result.
What density range can I enter for mass conversions?
The ingredient density field accepts values from 0.001 to 30 g/mL. It is only needed when one side of the conversion is grams or kilograms; gram-to-kilogram and volume-to-volume conversions ignore it.
Where is my input processed?
This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
What are the input limits?
