How to use API request builder

API request builder sends a GET, HEAD or POST request to an HTTPS URL directly from your browser and shows the status code, response headers and body. Headers are entered as JSON, and for POST the input text is the request body. Requests omit cookies, time out after 30 seconds and refuse redirects.

  1. Paste the source into the input editor, or load the built-in example.
  2. Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.
  3. Run api request builder, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the API request builder show a CORS error?

The request is sent straight from your browser, so the destination must allow cross-origin requests with CORS headers. Endpoints that do not allow it cannot be reached with this tool.

How do I add headers to an API request?

Enter them as a JSON object in Headers (JSON), for example {"Accept":"application/json"}. The response headers are shown in a separate table after the request.

Is there a size limit for API requests and responses?

Yes. A POST body and the response are each limited to 2 MB, and requests stop after 30 seconds. Only HTTPS URLs are accepted.

Where is my input processed?

When you run the tool, your browser sends the URL, custom headers and any POST body directly to the endpoint you choose. That endpoint receives the submitted data and your connection address. Requests omit cookies. ToolCabana does not proxy or store request data in the Hobby release.

What are the input limits?

HTTPS GET, HEAD or POST with a 30-second timeout. Request bodies and streamed responses are limited to 2 MB each. The destination must allow browser CORS; blocked destinations cannot be bypassed through a server on Hobby.
