Como usar Discount calculator

The Discount calculator takes an original price and a discount percentage and returns the final price, the amount you save and the discounted price before tax. You can stack a second discount on the already reduced price and add a tax percentage on top. Every money amount is rounded half-up to the nearest cent.

  1. Adjust the values; an initial result is calculated from the defaults.
  2. Change the basic settings or open Advanced mode to fine-tune the result.
  3. Review and copy or download your result. Pause Live results to run manually. Sources or individual settings above 20,000 characters require an explicit run.

Preguntas frecuentes

How are two stacked discounts calculated?

The second discount applies to the price after the first one, not to the original. The discounted price is price × (1 − first/100) × (1 − second/100), so 20% then 10% off 100 gives 72, a 28% total saving rather than 30%.

Is sales tax applied before or after the discount?

After. The calculator first rounds the discounted price to the nearest cent, then multiplies it by (1 + tax/100) and rounds again. The You save figure is the original price minus the rounded discounted price, so tax is not counted as part of the saving.

Can the discount be more than 100%?

No. Both the main discount and the optional second discount must be between 0 and 100%. Values outside that range produce an error, and the original price and tax percentage cannot be negative.
