How to use Camel snake kebab case

Camel Snake Kebab Case converts a phrase or existing identifier into a programming naming style: camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, PascalCase or CONSTANT_CASE. It splits words at spaces, punctuation and lowercase-to-uppercase boundaries, so userName and user-name are both recognized, then lowercases the parts and rejoins them in the chosen style. Letters and digits from any script are kept.

  1. Type or paste your source, or load an example.
  2. Change the basic settings or open Advanced mode to fine-tune the result.
  3. Review and copy or download your result. Pause Live results to run manually. Sources or individual settings above 20,000 characters require an explicit run.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert camelCase to snake_case?

Paste the camelCase name and choose snake case as the Naming style. A break is inserted wherever a lowercase letter or digit is followed by a capital, so userAccountId becomes user_account_id.

Can I convert a list of variable names at once?

Not as separate names. Line breaks are treated like any other separator, so the whole input becomes one long identifier. Convert one name at a time to get individual results.

Why does XMLParser become xmlparser instead of xml_parser?

A run of capitals is not split apart, because breaks are added only where a lowercase letter or digit meets a capital. Add a space or underscore between the parts, such as XML Parser, to get xml_parser.

Where is my input processed?

This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.

What are the input limits?

Text operations generally accept up to 2,000,000 characters. Individual parsers, generators and formulas apply additional limits shown by their controls.
