How to use Batch file renamer
The batch file renamer gives a set of files sequential names and downloads the renamed copies together in renamed-files.zip. You choose a prefix, a starting number and number padding from 1 to 8 digits; each file keeps its original extension. With the defaults, the first file becomes file-001 followed by its extension, and your original files stay unchanged.
- Choose a source file. If the tool accepts multiple files, arrange them in the order you want.
- Adjust the basic settings, then open Advanced mode for export and fine-tuning options. Custom settings stay active when the panel is closed.
- Run batch file renamer, review the output, then use the available copy or download controls.

Frequently asked questions
How do I batch rename photos to a numbered sequence?
Select the photos, set a prefix such as holiday, a starting number and padding. With padding of 3 and a start of 1, names become holiday-001.jpg, holiday-002.jpg and so on, numbered in the order of the file list.
Does the batch renamer change the files on my computer?
No. It creates renamed copies inside a ZIP archive called renamed-files.zip. The originals keep their names, so you extract the ZIP wherever you want the renamed versions.
Can I start numbering at zero or a high number?
Yes. The starting number accepts any whole number from 0 to 1,000,000. Padding adds leading zeros up to the chosen width, from 1 to 8 digits, which keeps files sorted correctly in most file managers.
Where is my input processed?
This operation processes its source in your browser. Copy and download are explicit actions; source input is not saved in an account or history.
What are the input limits?
Media input is bounded to 50 MB per file and 100 MB combined. WebAssembly conversions have a 180-second limit and may require substantial browser memory.
