Resize image sets a new pixel width and, optionally, an exact height for a photo or graphic. Leave height at 0 to keep the original aspect ratio; with a fixed height the image either fits inside the canvas or is cropped to fill it, and it is never stretched. Advanced options choose PNG, JPEG or WebP output and resampling quality.

How do I resize an image without distorting it?
Enter a width and leave height at 0. The tool calculates the height from the original aspect ratio and shows the output size. If you enter both width and height, the image is scaled to fit or cropped to fill instead of being stretched.
What fills the empty space when the image doesn't match the new size?
With Crop to fit exact size turned off, the whole image is placed inside the canvas. The leftover areas stay transparent for PNG and WebP output, and for JPEG they are filled with the JPEG background color, which defaults to white.
Can I make an image larger with the resize tool?
Yes. Width accepts 1 to 10000 pixels, so the output can be bigger than the source. Enlarging resamples the existing pixels and does not add detail, and the output must stay within 16,000 pixels per side and 32 megapixels.
